WASHINGTON — Michael Phelps’ latest product endorsement deal is with Virginia Beach-based Leesa Sleep, an online mattress retailer.
Phelps and a fellow Olympian, gymnast Aly Raisman, will also help the company promote the importance of a good nights’ sleep.
Leesa Sleep, launched in 2014, sells American-made mattresses delivered to customers’ doors.
The company also has a social impact program called Leesa One-Ten, and donates one mattress to a shelter for every 10 mattresses sold. The company says it has donated more than 9,000 mattresses since the program launched.
“Sleep monitoring was a daily part of my routine when I returned to competitive swimming as it was critical to aid my recovery, so I was prepared for my next training session or competition,” Phelps said in a statement.
“I am excited to partner with Leesa and help people of all ages understand the importance of sleep in their life,” he said.
The financial terms of Phelps’ Leesa Mattress endorsement deal were not disclosed.
Phelps, the most medal-winning Olympic athlete ever, with a total of 28 medals, has many lucrative endorsement deals with companies that include Speedo, Visa, Omega watches and Under Armour, and has earned an estimated $75 million in endorsements over the course of his career.
