Fight continues over pending gun shop in Arlington

WASHINGTON — The fight is heating up over the opening of a gun store in Arlington, Virginia.

Nova Armory is expected to open soon along the 2300 block of N. Pershing Drive near Route 50 in the Lyon Park neighborhood.

There are online petitions both for and against the gun store, which will be one of the largest sporting arms dealers inside the Capital Beltway, according to its website.

Seven Democratic state lawmakers have sent a letter to the landlord asking her not to rent the space to the gun shop.

Nova Armory’s owner is threatening to sue the lawmakers and those who are interfering with getting the business off the ground.

In a press release, the owner’s daughter said she and the landlord have received threats.

Nova Armory owner Dennis Pratt canceled a meeting with a neighborhood association for Monday and says he will not be attending a community meeting next month, according to the Washington Post.
