Police: Alcohol may have been factor in fatal Anne Arundel Co. crash

WASHINGTON — Police say alcohol consumption may have been a factor in a fatal crash on an Anne Arundel County roadway early Monday morning.

A Honda CR-V was traveling northbound on Arundel Expressway — MD-10 — near Interstate 695 in Glen Burnie at about 2:15 a.m. when the driver failed to maneuver around turn and drove off the roadway. The vehicle drove into a wooded area where it overturned and struck a tree, police say.

Police declared the driver — 41-year-old Robin Ellis of Cantonsville, Maryland — dead at the scene.

Police say alcohol use appears to have contributed to the crash. Excessive speed was not a factor, police add.

The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
