Identity of Md. woman found inside Severn home released

WASHINGTON — The identity of the woman found dead inside a home in Severn, Maryland has been released.

The body of Karlyn Serane Ramirez, 24, was discovered Tuesday morning.

Police initially responded to a call at around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, reporting an unsecured residence on the 8000 block of Millstone Court.

Police spoke with a citizen who had entered the residence in an attempt to follow a stray dog that went inside the home. After calling for anyone who may have been inside at the time, the citizen called the police.

Upon police investigation of the residence, officers found Ramirez, who was pronounced deceased. An autopsy performed Wednesday revealed the cause of death to be gunshot wounds.

Officers also found a five-month-old infant next to the victim. The child was taken to an area hospital as a precaution, but appears in good health, police say.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and have since taken over the investigation, which is active and ongoing.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Police Department’s Tipline at 410-222-4700 or contact Metro Crime Stoppers.
