Fairfax police seek man who held up 7-year-old in beauty store robbery

WASHINGTON — Fairfax County police are looking for a man who held two women and a 7-year-old girl at gunpoint during a robbery Tuesday at a cosmetic-supply store in Alexandria.

The man entered the Beauty Island store at 7814 Richmond Highway about 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, displayed a handgun and demanded money, according to a police statement. The man then forced two women who were working at the store and the girl into a backroom before he fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

No one was injured, police said.

The man is described as black, 25 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a black ski mask, white shirt and black pants at the time of the crime.

Fairfax County police ask anyone who recognizes the man or who has information about the robbery to contact Detective J. Hoffman at 703-246-7800.

People can also contact Crime Solvers of Fairfax County by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Tipsters are eligible for a cash reward of between $100 to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
