FDA Shifting To Empty White Flint Office Space — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is set to consolidate by moving many of its Montgomery County office locations to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s leased, but unused space at Three White Flint. The shift will put about 1,000 FDA workers now in Rockville and Bethesda in White Flint in the next two years as FDA’s leases expire in those places. The move is expected to save the federal government about $150 million over the next 15 years. [Washington Business Journal]
Pepco Rate Case Public Hearing — Pepco organized a Monday, May 12 public hearing with the state’s Public Service Commission on its latest rate increase request. The hearing will take place at 7 p.m. at the Montgomery County Executive Office Building (101 Monroe St., Rockville) in the Lobby Auditorium. In the past, the PSC public hearings have brought out many residents testifying against Pepco rate increases. The PSC will make a ruling on if Pepco gets an increase and how much that increase will be.
Most Marylanders Support New Healthcare System, Despite Glitches — A Washington Post pol says 55 percent of Maryland residents support the federal healthcare reform effort, despite the state being home to one of the country’s worst online health insurance marketplaces. Forty percent of those polled said they oppose the Affordable Care Act. Maryland might ditch parts or the entire glitch-filled state exchange website once the first enrollment period ends March 31. Gallery B March Exhibition — Bethesda Urban Partnership’s Gallery B (7700 Wisconsin Ave., Suite E) in March will feature the work of Boyds artist Robert O’Brien, who specializes in paintings of the human form. The exhibit will be on display from March 5-29 with an opening reception from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, March 14 in conjunction with the monthly Bethesda Art Walk.
