National Parks are free during MLK holiday weekend

WASHINGTON – The National Park Service is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend by waiving all entrance fees at more than 100 parks across the country.

Several parks in the D.C. area will be free to get into between Jan. 14 and Jan. 16.

Parks in Maryland:

  • Antietam National Battlefield
  • Assateague Island National Seashore
  • Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park
  • Fort McHenry NM and Historic Shrine National Monument
  • Fort Washington Park
  • Harpers Ferry National Historical Park

Parks in Virginia:

  • Appomattox Court House National Historical Park
  • Assateague Island National Seashore
  • Colonial National Historical Park
  • George Washington Memorial Parkway’s Great Falls Park
  • Manassas National Battlefield Park
  • Petersburg National Battlefield
  • Prince William Forest Park
  • Shenandoah National Park

There are several other days where there are no fees for parks including National Park week in April, Get Outdoors day in June, and Veterans Day weekend.
