Miami International Auto Show

Corvette Stingray The Official Show Car for the Miami Auto Show looked stunning in Velocity Yellow. The crossbar grille evokes '55-'60 models while the headlights borrow design cues from Ferrari. It all looks even better in person. Prices start at $51,995. (WTOP/John Aaron)
Corvette Stingray The fastback roof and the quad-center-outlet exhaust are eye-catchers. The only curiosity is the angular taillights and the oddly-shaped black taillight surrounds. (WTOP/John Aaron)
Corvette Stingray The Stingray - a name that was last used in 1976 -- features a 450 horsepower V8. While playing with the clutch and the seven-speed manual transmission, I may have let out an inadvertent "Vroom!" or two or three, or 20. (WTOP/John Aaron)
Maserati Ghibli Another historic name being revived is the Ghibli, which made its U.S. debut at the Miami show. Originally a two-seat sports car in the '60s and '70s, it returns with four doors as a complement to Maserati's larger and more expensive Quattroporte. (WTOP/John Aaron)
Cadillac Escalade The 2015 Escalade made its national auto show debut in Miami. Cadillac says the fourth-generation of the big SUV, which debuted in 1999, features a more luxurious and technologically advanced interior. Production begins next spring. (WTOP/John Aaron)
The Cadillac ELR The ELR is a plug-in electric car which also has an on-board gasoline engine that can be used to recharge the car's batteries. With a starting price of $75,995, it clocks in at $40,000 more than its sibling, the Chevrolet Volt. It goes on sale in January. (WTOP/John Aaron)
Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class With a starting price of $29,900, you don't need to sell your soul to the devil (or Willem Dafoe) to get entry-level luxury, smirked the commercials. You may be more tempted by this demonic CLA45 AMG variant, featuring a 355-horsepower four-cylinder and all-wheel drive. (WTOP/John Aaron)
Jeep Cherokee The Cherokee is back after a 13-year absence, trading its traditionally boxy styling for something that looks downright alien. This Trailhawk edition comes with added off-road goodies, like the neon orange tow hooks jutting out of the front bumper. (WTOP/John Aaron)
Volvo V60 Like it or not, a Volvo station wagon is a staple of the automotive world. The company is again offering one in the U.S. - the sleek V60 Sportswagon. (WTOP/John Aaron)
