Tennessee Tech upsets Eastern Kentucky 39-31

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Darian Stone threw three touchdowns as Tennessee Tech rallied in the fourth quarter to deliver Eastern Kentucky its first season loss, 39-31, Saturday night.

Stone had 225 yards passing for the Golden Eagles (3-4, 2-2 Ohio Valley Conference). Ladarius Vanlier ran for 140 yards and scored two touchdowns, including a 79-yard punt return.

Tennessee Tech scored 29 straight points in the fourth quarter on three Stone passes and a touchdown dash by Vanlier, to lead 39-31 with two minutes left.

Jared McClain led the Colonels (6-1, 3-1) to a comfortable 31-10 lead by the end of the third quarter.

But the Golden Eagles were just getting started. In the fourth, Stone threw two TDs to Brock McCoin and another to Cody Matthews to take the lead, 32-31, with 3:41 remaining.

On the first play of Tennessee Tech’s next possession, Vanlier ran 63 yards for yet another score and the win.
