Butler beats Taylor in game shortened by lightning

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Matt Shiltz accounted for 433 total yards and five touchdowns to lead Butler past NAIA Taylor University, 38-3, in a game that was cut short after three quarters because of lightning on Saturday night.

The game was delayed for 90 minutes near the end of the first half and was eventually called off.

Shiltz completed 25 of 31 passes for 347 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He added 84 yards and two scores on the ground, including a 74-yarder on the first play of the second half.

Butler (2-1) forced a three-and-out on Taylor’s first offensive possession and the Bulldog offense, which averaged 9.3 yards per play, marched 69 yards on seven plays, taking a 7-0 lead on a 13-yard touchdown run by Schiltz.

Marquese Martin-Hayes had 10 receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Collins added five grabs for 100 yards and a score.
