SE Missouri tops SE Louisiana 24-23

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Kyle Snyder found Paul McRoberts from two yards out with 4 seconds remaining to lift SE Missouri over SE Louisiana 24-23 Saturday night.

SE Louisiana quarterback Bryan Bennett’s 22-yard touchdown run with 2:53 left put the Lions up 23-16. SE Missouri then went 78 yards in 14 plays to get to the 2 before Snyder hooked up with McRoberts for his second TD catch of the day.

Down entering the fourth, SE Louisiana (3-1) cut it to 17-16 on Bennett’s 4-yard TD pass to Jeff Smiley with 5:18 left, but the two-point conversion failed. The Lions’ Denzel Thompson knocked the ball loose form Lennies McFerrin at the 38 on the next play to set up Bennett’s would-be heroics.

But Snyder wasn’t done. He went 7 of 13 and had runs of 9- and 15-yards on the final drive, including a 15-yard scramble to set up first-and-goal at the 2.
