Georgia’s Morgan breaks SEC field goal record

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Georgia’s Marshall Morgan set a Southeastern Conference record by making his 20th field goal in a row before missing a 44-yard kick in the second quarter.

Morgan’s first field goal from 36 yards Saturday against No. 24 South Carolina broke the record set by Tennessee’s Fuad Reveiz in 1984.

Morgan made a 26-yard field goal in the second quarter before the junior’s 44-yard try with 2:16 left in the first half was wide right.

Reveiz still shares the SEC record for longest field goal with a 60-yard kick in 1982 against Georgia Tech, along with Georgia’s Kevin Butler and Florida’s Chris Perkins.
