Stetson beats Warner 35-16

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) — Ryan Tentler threw for one touchdown and rushed for a second in Stetson’s 35-16 win over Warner on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Tentler threw for 147 yards and ran for 75 yards on seven carries.

Donald Payne started the scoring for the Hatters with a 25-yard blocked punt return early in the first quarter. Warner scored next with a rushing touchdown and a field goal to end the first with a 10-7 lead.

But the Hatters came roaring back, scoring 28 straight points that had them up 35-10 with just over seven minutes to play in the third quarter.

Warner’s Rahim Booker returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown late in the third. It was the last score of the game.

Stetson held Warner to just 58 yards rushing and just 185 yards in offense overall. Warner also had 159 yards in penalties.
