Texas State pounds Arkansas-Pine Bluff 65-0

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Tyler Jones threw for 278 yards and four touchdowns to lead Texas State to a 65-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.

Texas State opened the season in a dominating fashion, compiling a school-record 697 total yards while limiting UAPB to 215 total yards. It was the most points scored by the Bobcats since they defeated New Mexico State, 66-28, on December 1, 2012.

Jones, who threw eight touchdown passes in eight games last year, completed 21 of 25 attempts with no interceptions. Jafus Gaines was Jones’ primary target, pulling in four passes for 119 yards and two TDs.

Robert Lowe ran for 150 yards on 14 carries and one score.

UAPB failed to cross midfield in the second half.
