Northern Illinois rattles Presbyterian 55-3

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Joel Bouagnon ran for 97 yards and four touchdowns and Northern Illinois beat Presbyterian College 55-3 on Thursday night in the season opener for both FBS schools.

Northern Illinois, of the Mid-Atlantic Conference, scored on its first possession with a 39-yard touchdown pass from Matt McIntosh to Da’Ron Brown, igniting a 55-point spree before Presbyterian of the Big South Conference was able to post its only points on a field goal with 6 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

As expected, the Huskies split quarterback duties between McIntosh and Drew Hare, who took over in the second half. Hare and McIntosh threw for one touchdown each. Northern Illinois outgained the Blue Hose 635 to 127 in total yardage, including 424 yards on the ground as the Huskies extended its home stadium winning streak to a nation-leading 27 games.

Heys McMath completed 8 of 14 passes for 27 yards, while LaQua Mayes ran for 31 yards for Presbyterian.
