WASHINGTON - Germany welcomed its largest newborn this past week: a 13-pound, 4-ounce girl that her mother delivered naturally.

Jasleen was born July 26 at University Hospital in Leipzip, Germany, and came in at 13.47 pounds and about 22 inches long. Most babies her size are delivered via a cesarean section, but Hollywood Life reports Jasleen's mother delivered her naturally.

Jasleen stole the title of "Germany's largest baby" from Jihad a 13-pound baby born in Berlin in 2011.

The size of the girl is attributed to her mother's previously undiagnosed case of gestational diabetes, which can lead to a larger-than-usual baby, according to information from the Mayo Clinic.

Despite Jasleen's impressive size, she's not the biggest baby born in the world this year. A more than 15-pound baby, George King, was born to a British couple in March.

Jasleen has been in the neonatal care unit at the hospital since her birth, Hollywood Life says, but both infant and mother are doing well.
