WASHINGTON – The owner of a pit bull faces a charge of violating Prince George’s County’s ban on the dogs after his bit two children in Clinton, Md.
Prince George’s County police arrested Drew Byron Street, 20, of Clinton on Tuesday, a day after the loose dog bit a 6-year-old and his 13-year-old cousin in the 11600 block of Cosca Park Drive.
Street faces a charge of possessing an unregistered pit bull terrier.
Police said the dog was not on a leash when the children encountered it.
The boys ran and the dog chased them at about 5:15 p.m. Monday, police said.

Two neighbors managed to remove the dog from the house, according to police. A teenage girl took the dog from the scene before police arrived.
The children sustained injuries to their faces and arms and had to be taken to the hospital.
The dog is in the custody of animal control.
Prince George’s County banned pit bulls in 1996, but let owners register those they had before February 1997.
The maximum penalty for having an unregistered pit bull is six months in jail and a fine of $1,000.
