Springsteen pays tribute to Bee Gees, AC/DC in concert

WASHINGTON — Bruce Springsteen is known for throwing his fans some changeups during his concerts. But when he stepped onto the stage in Brisbane to open the last show of his Australian tour, he really went all out.

Via Rolling Stone, Springsteen opened the four-hour concert with an acoustic guitar-trumpet vamp before breaking into “Stayin’ Alive,” the disco classic by Australians The Bee Gees.

Springsteen and the E Street Band turned the song into a marathon, adding strings, adding strings and many solos, including a head-spinner from guest guitarist Tom Morello.

It didn’t stop there – the set included a rendition of the entire 1973 “The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle,” a cameo by Eddie Vedder on AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” and a massive group twerk.

According to Rolling Stone, Springsteen has paid tribute to several Australian artists during this tour.
