WASHINGTON — The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, a nonprofit with more than 500,000 members from the music industry, is celebrating 100 years since its inception with the release of a short film entitled “Why We Create Music.”

Featuring singers like Ne-Yo and Dave Haywood from the country band Lady Antebellum, the film showcases how 15 award-winning musicians and songwriters choose to create music and what it means to them.

The general sentiment in the video is that music has the ability to touch the lives of others through its unifying language and powerful ability to emit emotion.

The video below gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how music is produced and the creative process required.

Some of those featured in the film have been working on a music video collaboration for the song called “More Than The Stars,” which will be released soon.
