DOUBLE HOMICIDE-MISSING CHILD

UPDATE: RI police arrest 2 in double homicide, boy missing

JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) -- Police say they have arrested two men in a double homicide and the abduction of a 2-year-old boy from a Rhode Island home. The child, Isaiah Perez, remained missing Sunday evening.

Johnston Deputy Police Chief Daniel Parrillo said authorities are searching for the boy "any place and every place." The boy was found missing early Sunday from a Johnston residence when the two bodies were found.

Parrillo said 22-year-old Malcolm Crowell was arrested in Fall River, Mass., and Daniel Rodriguez was arrested hours later in Providence. Both are from Providence.

Parrillo would not say why police suspect them or how they are related to each other or to the victims. The identities of the two people found dead have not been released.

YWCA SHOOTING

Father kills son, himself at YWCA offices in NH

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) -- New Hampshire officials say a father shot his 9-year-old son to death before taking his own life during supervised visitation at a YWCA office in the state's largest city.

The attorney general's office identified the father as 54-year-old Muni Savyon of Manchester and the son as 9-year-old Joshua Savyon of Amherst. Officials say an adult supervisor was present when the father produced a handgun and shot the boy several times before shooting himself late Sunday morning.

Investigators say the father had made previous threats.

On Sundays, the YWCA is open for supervised child visitation and custody exchanges.

Rabbi Levi Krinsky said the father was depressed after returning from his brother's funeral in Israel but he said he had no concerns about his well-being..

2 of 3 reported missing after mudslide found safe

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Two of three people reported missing after a fast-moving mudslide swept through Manitou (MAN'-ih-too) Springs, Colo., have been found safe.

The Gazette newspaper reports a man who recently moved to the area affected by the flood was found Saturday. On Sunday, the El Paso County Sheriff's office said another man thought to have disappeared in the flood, 24-year-old Juston Travis, was accounted for.

Authorities are still trying to determine what happened to an unidentified woman witnesses saw clinging to a tree during Friday night's mudslide.

At least one person was killed in the slide, which also destroyed six houses and damaged more than 30 others in an area burned by the Waldo Canyon Fire last year.

Police Chief Joe Ribeiro says crews continue to sift through creek beds filled with debris.

The blaze injured 10 firefighters and seriously burned a mountain biker who was overrun by the fast-moving flames when the fire erupted Wednesday.
