WASHINGTON – Nothing goes together like summer and good tunes.
Whether the song has the word “summer” in it, describes a favorite summertime activity or is just evocative of lounging on the beach listening to a mix-CD (or mix-tape, if you remember the “Summer of ’69”), some songs just go well with summer.
Countless lists of “best summer songs” exist. Billboard‘s lists rely on past summers.
Other lists, like the one from PopDust try to choose which song will become the “summer jam of 2013.”
RadioInfo is out with its list of the Top 25 Classic Rock Songs of Summer.
All the songs have “summer” in the title, lyrics or themes.
Here are the top five on RadioInfo’s list:
- “Summer in the City” by Lovin’ Spoonful.
- “Summertime” by Janis Joplin.
- “Night Moves” by Bob Seger.
- “Centerfield” by John Fogerty.
- “Sunny Afternoon” by The Kinks.
Also in the top 10 on that list are Bryan Adams, Mungo Jerry and Don Henley.
