WASHINGTON – It’s that time of year – time for the Virginia Railway Express’s Santa Train.

This is the stuff that memories are made of, riding VRE’s Santa Train. The magical holiday train ride for kids, with the big guy in the red suit, is always a red hot seller. And you might want to lock up you tickets fast since these tickets are always in high demand and sell out quickly.

The date to remember is 9 a.m., Monday, Nov. 26. That’s when tickets go on sale. The train ride is set for Saturday, Dec. 8.

The Santa Trains will depart from four locations: Woodbridge, Manassas, Burke Centre and Leeland Road in Stafford will replace the usual Fredericksburg train.

Operators switched the location because of the anticipated crowds for 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Fredericksburg.

If you get to ride the Santa Train, you’ll want to consider bringing a toy for the Toy for Tots’ Campaign.

Tickets can be purchased online at vre.org.

And a warning about purchasing tickets online: If you buy more than 6 tickets for trains with designated ticket limits, the entire order will be refunded and the tickets re-sold.
