Ohio track star puts competitor before finish line (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – What’s more important, winning or sportsmanship?

A high schooler faced that dilemma during the Ohio state track finals.

Meghan Vogel had exhausted herself winning the 1,600-meter race. While simply trying to finish the 3,200-meter race, she was running behind Arden McMath, who collapsed just 20 feet away from the finish line.

Instead of passing her, Meghan stopped, helped her to her feet and crossed the finish line with her.

“If you work to get to the state meet, you deserve to finish, no matter who you are,” says Vogel. “I was going to make that happen for her, no matter what.”

The Springfield News-Sun reports the two finished at the back of the pack.
