Private Preschool Coming To North Bethesda/White Flint

Edson Lane future site of a Goddard School

A private preschool part of a nationwide educational company is coming to North Bethesda.

The Goddard School, which has more than 400 franchised and accredited schools in 35 states, will host a pre-submittal meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.

The school wants to build its facility at 5420 Edson Lane, a property with a vacant house that was used as an office, so approval by the Montgomery County Planning Board is required. The Friends of White Flint first reported the news.

At the meeting on Wednesday will be Jim Worley who along with his wife runs the Goddard School location in Gaithersburg.

The school was founded in 1988 in Pennsylvania for children six weeks to six years old. It uses the “F.L.E.X. Learning Program,” heavy on play-based learning.

The U.S. Postal Service had its sites on the Edson Lane property for the relocation of the post office inside White Flint Mall. The USPS even announced it would be moving there before reversing course and picking a new location in an existing shopping center on Nicholson Lane.
