The State Highway Administration hopes to start a crosswalk project Monday on Bradley Boulevard.
Weather permitting, the SHA will start the $425,000 intersection improvement project along Bradley at Strathmore Street in Chevy Chase. Weather permitting, the project should be complete by late summer.
Work at the intersection includes:
- Removal of trees necessary to complete sidewalk upgrades
- Upgrading existing pedestrian ramps, concrete sidewalks and driveways and detectable warning surfaces for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance;
- Installing of a flashing signal for pedestrians wishing to cross Bradley Boulevard;
- Installing a median along Bradley Boulevard;
- Replacing and installing new curbs and gutters;
- Cleaning inlets and pipes;
- Resurfacing existing pavement and;
- Installation of new pavement markings.
Crews are permitted to close one lane in both directions of MD 191, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Later this summer, crews will be permitted to close one lane in both directions of Bradley Boulevard, overnight, Sunday through Thursday, between9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for final resurfacing.
