(Update 3:45 p.m.) Firefighters have put out a small fire in a Bethesda Row apartment.

The fire was reported around 3:30 p.m. in a second-floor apartment over Arlington Road.

According to scanner traffic, the fire was caused by a lamp that somehow caused some nearby clothing to burn. MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said the fire was put out by a sprinkler system. No one was injured and firefighters are still on scene clearing out smoke.

One lane of northbound Arlington Road near Bethesda Avenue is blocked and traffic is backed up on southbound Arlington Road.
