Hope Floats Moving Elsewhere Before Demolition, Bethesda Condo Construction

Flotation therapy tank, via Hope FloatsLess than a year after opening her flotation therapy spa on Battery Lane, Hope Floats owner Kimberly Boone is moving the business elsewhere before the spa’s current home is demolished.

Boone said Hope Floats, which features two isolation tanks filled with salt water, will move a few blocks to 4709 Chase Ave. with a planned opening date of June 15.

The first-floor 4811 Battery Lane location is in a building that will be demolished to make way for a nine-story, 46-unit luxury condo building called Woodmont View. Developer Duball put in the demolition permit for the building last week and hopes to break ground on the project late this year.

For Boone, who ran the flotation therapy business out of her home before opening last October on Battery Lane, it’s a quick turnaround. But he new location will allow for an expansion, starting with another float tank.

A 60- to 90-minute session in the tank typically runs $70. The flotation tanks allow for Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy or REST therapy, meant to help relax and energize.

It’s certainly a unique service. The closest similar facility is in Manassas. It’s earned Boone and Hope Floats a good amount of media attention since opening last fall. It got a mention in DCist’s list of “The 14 Best Dates in D.C. That Aren’t Dinner and a Movie.”

Boone said the build-out of the new space will begin next week.
