Lockheed Pulls Boy Scout Support Over Gay Ban — The Bethesda-based defense giant announced this week it will no longer donate to the Boy Scouts of America because of the organization’s ban on gay leaders. The group has lost other major corporate boosters such as UPS and the Intel Foundation over the last few years for the same reason. [Baltimore Sun]

Brown’s Running Mate Can Keep Raising Cash — The Maryland State Board of Elections on Thursday ruled that the running mate of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Anthony Brown can keep raising money throughout the upcoming 90-day General Assembly. Brown (the lieutenant governor), opponent Doug Gansler (the attorney general) and Gansler’s running mate Jolene Ivy (a Prince George’s County delegate) all are barred from raising money during the session. But the Board said Ken Ulman, the Howard County Executive running with Brown, isn’t prohibited from doing so. That drew criticism from Gansler, who said the Board misinterpreted the law. Navy Shows Off Wave Testing Basin At Carderock — The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division on Thursday debuted a 12-million gallon pool with special wave simulation technology that will allow the Navy to test model-size ships. [ABC7]
