WASHINGTON – Montgomery County police put out a public safety alert after girls were approached by strangers, on two different occasions.

Police say last Friday, a man approached a group of young girls playing on Ross Road in Silver Spring around 4:30 p.m. and made inappropriate comments.

Then Tuesday, police say a man driving a maroon SUV drove up next to a 13-year-old girl around 4 p.m. near South Park Avenue in Friendship Heights and asked her questions, including her name. She ran away.

Police say they do not know if the cases are related. Both men are described as a hispanic male in his 30s to 40s.
