Ducks send Gibson to AHL; put Maroon, Allen on IR

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Goalie John Gibson has been assigned to the Anaheim Ducks’ minor-league affiliate for the weekend.

The Ducks also placed forward Patrick Maroon and defenseman Bryan Allen on injured reserve Wednesday.

Anaheim recalled goalie Jason LaBarbera and forward Chris Wagner from its AHL affiliate in Norfolk.

The 21-year-old Gibson hasn’t played since giving up six goals in a season-opening loss at Pittsburgh. Frederik Andersen has since won three straight games for the Ducks, and Gibson wants to regain his sharpness in Norfolk before returning to Anaheim next week.

Maroon apparently injured his knee Monday in a collision with Buffalo’s Josh Gorges. Allen hasn’t played this season due to a lower-body injury.

The Ducks signed LaBarbera in the offseason. Wagner is the AHL’s co-leader in goals this season.
