Rockies activate Cuddyer; Kahnle goes on DL

DENVER (AP) — Outfielder Michael Cuddyer, sidelined for 2 1/2 months by a fractured left shoulder, has been activated by the Colorado Rockies. He returns to the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds.

In other moves Sunday, the Rockies placed reliever Tommy Kahnle on the 15-day disabled list because of a right shoulder inflammation and recalled right-handed reliever Brooks Brown from their Triple-A affiliate in Colorado Springs.

Infielder Ben Paulsen also was optioned to Colorado Springs and left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson (back strain) was transferred from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL. Brown also was available for Sunday’s games.

The 35-year-old Cuddyer was playing third base against Arizona on June 5 when he hurt himself diving for a grounder. He missed the next 60 games. In 31 games this season, Cuddyer batted .317 with five home runs and 16 RBIs.
