ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have optioned infielder Tyler Pastornicky to Triple-A Gwinnett and recalled second baseman Phil Gosselin from Gwinnett.
Pastornicky had a brief stint as Atlanta’s starting second baseman this season before assuming a utility role after rookie Tommy La Stella won the starting job. Pastornicky is hitting .200 with no homers and two RBIs in 28 games.
Gosselin, a Triple-A All-Star, was hitting .345 with five homers and 30 RBIs at Gwinnett. He was called up to Atlanta on July 13 but didn’t have an at-bat and was returned to Gwinnett the same day. He had two hits in six at-bats in 2013.
