WASHINGTON – The man accused of murdering three Alexandria, Virginia, residents over the period of a decade now has a trial date.
Judge Jane Rausch sat Charles Severance’s trial date for Oct. 5, 2015.
Severance faces capital murder charges and a first-degree murder charge in the deaths of Nancy Dunning, Ron Kirby and Ruthanne Lodato.
Looking engaged and slightly concerned, Severance listened as the judge appointed from Fairfax County denied the defense’s request for more time to prepare.
The defense initially asked for a January 2016 trial date. That, the judge said, was too far away.
The judge partially granted the media’s request for a still camera in pretrial.
She says she will decide closer to the trial date whether she will allow the requested cameras inside the court room.
