Va. Beach woman accused of tax fraud

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — A Virginia Beach woman has been indicted on charges of falsifying 22 tax returns.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1mDsGXo) reports 45-year-old Arthia Allen was arrested Tuesday and released on bond after an initial appearance in U.S. District Court.

The indictment says Allen is accused of filing false tax returns for 2012, claiming $81,000 in fake deductions for 17 people. It also accuses her of using the identities of five other people in 2013 to obtain refunds for herself.

The total loss to the Internal Revenue Service was $253,000.
