D.C. woman pleads guilty in death of infant son

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Washington woman has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of her 7-week-old son.

Thirty-three-year-old Tisheena Brown entered the plea Wednesday in Superior Court. Sentencing is set for July 18.

According to court documents, Brown called 911 on Sept. 17 to report that her son, Hakeem Brown, wasn’t breathing. The infant died at a hospital.

Prosecutors say an autopsy showed the cause of death to be a lethal dose of Promethazine, medication is used to treat allergic reactions and symptoms of the common cold. Authorities say It is prescribed with the warning that it should not be used in children younger than two.
