Weather delays $90 million ICC project

WASHINGTON – Winter’s harsh is gone, but some of its effects are still lingering on the Intercounty Connector project.

A $90 million project on the ICC was supposed to wrap up this spring. However, the schedule for that work has been pushed back, according to The Baltimore Sun.

This project is an extension that would stretch the tolled highway farther east to Route 1.

The Maryland State Highway Administration says over the winter season crews could not gain momentum as snow storms repeatedly hit the area.

According to David Buck, a spokesperson for the agency, it’s not clear when the project might be completed. Officials will have to regroup and make that determination in the coming weeks.

The ICC currently stretches from Interstate 270 in Montgomery County east to Interstate 95 in Prince George’s County.
