WASHINGTON – Riding the bus will get cheaper in parts or the Washington, DC region, and transit agencies hope service will become more reliable.
Transit changes starting June 30, 2013 include:
- Metro will change service and add stops to selected routes.
- ART will implement service changes to bus routes 45, 53, and 75.
- DASH bus fares will increase $0.10 to $1.60 and monthly passes will increase from $35 to $40. But if riders purchase an electronic monthly DASH Pass for July, August September, the fee will remain at $35.
Transit changes starting July 1, 2013 include:
- The Fairax County Connector (FCC) will merge its transfer system with the Virginia Railway Express(VRE). Customers will be allowed a one-way transer for free when boarding at VRE station in Fairfax County.
- Fairfax County Connector will lower fares on six bus routes.
TheBus and VanGo
Prince George’s County TheBus will begin a partnership Monday with Charles County’s VanGo bus service. The service will run between Brandywine Crossing in Prince George’s County to Pinefield South Shopping Center in Charles County. Riders will be able to transfer lines at the Clinton Fringe Park and Ride Lot.
TheBus service terminates on weekday evenings after 7:50 p.m. and since it doesn’t run on Saturdays, VanGo will provide service from the transfer point in Waldorf to Brandywine Crossing.
The last VanGO bus will depart Brandywine Crossing at 9:29 p.m. Monday through Friday and arrive at the Waldorf transfer point at 9:45 p.m. to allow for connection with the 10 p.m. departures.
On Saturdays, service from Waldorf to Brandywine Crossing will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 9:45 p.m., while service from Brandywine Crossing to Waldorf will begin at 7:14 a.m. and end at 9:29 p.m.
