Winning lottery ticket worth $1M sold in Leesburg

WASHINGTON – Someone purchased a winning lottery ticket at the Sheetz in Leesburg.

The Virginia Lotter says the ticket, sold March 16, is worth $1 million.

The winning numbers were 3-7-21-44-53 and Powerball number 16. The winning ticket matched the first five numbers and missed the Powerball number.

The ticket’s owner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.

The Lottery advises the winner should immediately sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership.

On Feb. 14, Virginia Lottery awarded a $217 million Powerball jackpot to Dave and Nancy Honeywell of Fredericksburg.

This is the 10th $1 million Powerball winner in Virginia since Nov. 24.
