WASHINGTON - Many people are planning to take advantage of the last weekend of summer and get out of town for Labor Day. And while many commuters are gone, transit authorities are taking advantage of the lull.

Metro will be single-tracking all weekend starting at 10 p.m. Friday and lasting until Tuesday morning. On the Red Line, the work is between Rhode Island Avenue and Fort Totten.

Baseball fans should note that Metro also will be single-tracking on the Orange Line between Stadium Armory and Cheverly and on the Blue Line between Arlington Cemetery and Foggy Bottom. Some fans may want to adjust their travel plans when heading to Nationals Park.

Also keep in mind that Jimmy Buffet will be at Jiffy Lube Live Saturday night, so it could get very busy in Gainesville.

HOV restrictions will be lifted in Northern Virginia on Monday.
