WASHINGTON – Metro’s Rockville station was shut down on Saturday morning after reports that a man was hit by a train.

The station has since reopened and Red Line trains are single tracking in both directions between Shady Grove, Rockville and Twinbrook stations, Metro says.

The agency says the man “intentionally placed himself in path of n/b Red Line train” at 11:17 p.m. and was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.

No further information has been released about the victim.
