WASHINGTON — Pop quiz: How many bowl games are there?

The answer continues to grow, and will get larger again next year, but for the 2014-15 bowl season, there will be 39 games, including the College Football Playoff National Championship game in Arlington, Texas, Jan. 12.

Some of them you’ll know by name and tradition. Some of them you might think we made up, based on the obscure sponsor or bizarre name they’ve chosen for themselves.
