Akron suspends 3 football players after arrests

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — The University of Akron has suspended three football players following their arrests on charges related to an incident near campus in April.

Summit County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bill Holland says the players were among 13 individuals arrested following an incident when a sheriff’s deputy and another person were struck by a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot April 13.

University spokeswoman Eileen Korey said Thursday the university had suspended safety Johnny Robinson, running back Bryan Green and corner back Donte Williams.

Robinson, of Cleveland, is charged with aggravated menacing and aggravated riot. Green, of Farmington, Michigan, is charged with aggravated riot, while Williams, of Greenbelt, Maryland, is charged with resisting arrest, obstructing official business and aggravated riot.

Akron Municipal Court records did not list attorneys for the players.
