Suspect jailed, 2nd man sought in NC shooting

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — One suspect has been arrested and another is being sought on an assault charges in the shooting at a North Carolina courthouse that wounded two men.

A Nashville police news release said 36-year-old Demond Levar Morris of Rocky Mount was being held on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after his arrest late Wednesday. He was being held on $500,000 bond and had a court appearance Thursday morning.

The news release by Chief Thomas Bashore says authorities are seeking another man they suspect of being the gunman. Bashore says an arrest warrant on assault with a deadly weapon charges have been taken out against 31-year-old Brandon Tremaine Morris of Rocky Mount.

The victims were hospitalized in Greenville in critical condition as of Wednesday.
