Ugandan doctor with Ebola treated in Germany

FRANKFURT (AP) — A Ugandan doctor who contracted Ebola while working in Sierra Leone arrived in Germany for treatment Friday.

Authorities in the central German state of Hesse said the doctor, who was not identified, had worked for an Italian aid group in West Africa when he became infected. After being deemed fit for travel he was flown to Frankfurt and taken to the city’s university hospital.

The man will be treated in a separate building from other patients, the hospital said.

He is the second medical worker with Ebola to be treated in Germany.

Another man who contracted the deadly disease was brought to Hamburg in August. The Hamburg hospital declined to provide details on his condition, citing patient confidentiality, but said he is alive.
