Second Spanish priest with Ebola dies in Madrid

MADRID (AP) — A Spanish priest who was diagnosed with the Ebola virus while working in Sierra Leone has died at a Madrid hospital, becoming the second Spanish missionary to fall victim to the deadly virus.

The Carlos III hospital said in a statement that Manuel Garcia Viejo, a 69-year-old medical director of the San Juan de Dios Hospital in the city of Lunsar in Sierra Leone, died Thursday. It provided no further information.

Garcia Viejo had arrived in the Spanish capital on a medically-equipped military plane on Monday.

Last month, the 75-year-old Miguel Pajares was flown back to Spain from Liberia, but died after being treated with the experimental Ebola medicine ZMapp.
