WASHINGTON — No need to rush to the store for an envelope, gum, or a condom, now that Uber has launched its Corner Store feature in parts of Washington, D.C.
While Uber has become known for the ease in which smartphone users can get a ride, this first location for the company’s new delivery service allows a person to request allergy medicine, diapers, toothpaste, and over 100 other items through the Uber app.
Currently the coverage area is limited to upper Northwest DC, and Capitol Hill.
Not all users who have downloaded the Uber app will have access to the delivery service.
“Because Corner Store is an experiment, we’re rolling it out to a limited number of Uber DC riders in select areas,” according to the company.
On the Uber blog the company says the Corner Store will be available Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., but expects to expand its coverage area and hours of operation.
