LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police searched Saturday for a teenage boy who they said opened fire on a car full of other teens in a restaurant parking lot after a football game late Friday.
The teen approached the car, said something and then shot and injured three teens inside, said Lt. Andy Neiman, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
One teen was in critical but stable condition at the hospital, and the other two had more moderate injuries and were expected to survive, he said.
The shooting may be gang-related because of what the shooter said before opening fire, Neiman said, but he declined to elaborate.
The suspect is described as a 17-year-old Hispanic teen who was wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, he said.
Police have few leads but are hoping that someone in the crowd of up to 500 teens gathered in the In-N-Out parking lot after the game saw something and will come forward.
The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. after a game between Banning and San Pedro high schools.
San Pedro is about 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
No other details were immediately available.
