The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. We are saving lives not someday, but today. LLS funds research to advance more breakthrough therapies for blood cancer patients. LLS is the voice for all blood cancer patients, and is working to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients. There are more than 1.1 million Americans living with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin\'s disease and myeloma, 20,000 of which are within the National Capital Area. The local chapter supports these patients through programs and support groups, financial aid and co-pay assistance. The National Capital Area chapter is one of the largest of LLS\'s 61 chapters, on track to raise $13.2 million in fiscal year 2014. Fundraising events include the Light The Night Walks, Team in Training program, Leukemia Ball Presented by PhRMA, Pennies for Patients and Man & Woman of the Year Campaign. Overall LLS has funded nearly $1 billion in research since inception, with $74 million invested last year alone. In addition to research and patient programs, LLS has a strong commitment to advocacy programs, ensuring all patients have a voice in their treatment and coverage options. All of LLS\'s activities are driven by one goal: to live in a world without blood cancer.
