Remembering the victims: #20Acts of kindness

WASHINGTON – As the nation mourns the massacre in Newtown, Conn., Americans are banding together and committing acts of kindness in memory of the 26 lives lost last week.

Journalist Ann Curry is prompting people to Tweet their experiences using #20Acts and #26Acts.

She got the idea after Giants’ wide receiver Victor Cruz wrote the name of a 6-year-old victim on his cleats and gloves during Sunday’s game, The Huffington Post reports.

Inspired, Curry encouraged others to join in.

“Imagine if we all committed to 20 acts of kinds for each child lost in Newtown? I’m in RT #20Acts if YOU R in,” she Tweeted at the time.

WTOP listeners also are answering the call to kindness.

“I was done shopping for Toys for Tots. In perhaps a selfish attempt to make myself feel better, I went out and bought five more toys,” Barbara Howes shared on Facebook.
