Closed SW Va college plans yard sale

BRISTOL, Va. (AP) — The now-closed Virginia Intermont College is planning a yard sale to get rid of a wide range of smaller items.

The sale is set for Thursday through Saturday to coincide with this weekend’s Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion. Sharon Greatti, one of the college’s few remaining employees, tells the Bristol Herald-Courier (http://bit.ly/1wmQPIQ ) that some alumni are coming back to town for the music festival, so it seemed like a good time for the sale.

Among the items available are collectibles, uniforms, electronics, decor, heaters, window air conditioners, sports equipment, framed art, toys, holiday decorations and office supplies. Greatti says college rocking chairs are the most requested item, and about 20 will be available.

The private college closed in May because of financial problems and a loss of academic accreditation.
